Abstract​

This project looks to explore the evolution of gender fluidity and the depiction of transgender characters in literature through the examination of Orlando: A Biography by Virginia Woolf and Every Day by David Levithan.

The span of time between the publishing of the novels is approximately one-hundred years, which shows the relevance of the topic to both the past and the present. 

I examine the depiction of gender fluidity and transgender characters in order to start the conversation and bring contemporary issues into the public's attention--in order to promote acceptance and change in the future.
